About

Nathan Congleton was raised in southwestern Idaho and is currently a New York–based photographer, where he has lived and worked for more than 15 years. He began photographing hardcore punk shows in the late 2000s, developing a raw, documentary-driven style that continues to inform his work today.

Most recently, Nathan served as a senior staff photographer at NBC News and the TODAY show, following earlier work at MSNBC, where he got his start in broadcast photography shooting Morning Joe. He has also worked as a photographer for New York City Football Club. His work in photojournalism includes coverage of major global events, from moments such as the Royal Wedding to on-location live news reporting around the world.

In addition to his staff roles, Nathan has completed freelance work for global brands and organizations including Adidas, Nike, Umbro, Puma, SoccerBible, and Major League Soccer (MLS). His work has been featured in The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, New York Magazine, People, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, GQ, Forbes, and TIME, and has appeared in documentaries, large-scale billboards, and national media campaigns. He is also a frequent contributor to Getty Images.

Nathan works across both film and digital, with the majority of his personal and documentary work created on film. Staying true to traditional documentary practice, he avoids trends and content-driven approaches, focusing instead on honest, observational photography. His work centers on mundane moments and everyday life, guided by the belief that there is always a photograph to be found through attention, patience, and presence in his surroundings.
